BUILDING COLLAPSE OPERATIONS
Program Overview

This program provides the attendees with a comprehensive examination of the operations and
procedures used during a building collapse. This program also identifies safety concerns and
assists in the development of a strategy during a building collapse operation.

This program covers the following topics:

      How to set up a collapse zone
      The different types of building collapses
      Different collapse indicators
      How to recognize different collapse indicators
      The five step collapse plan
      How to conduct a safe operation during a collapse operation

Behavioral Objective of this Training Program

At the conclusion of this training program, the attendees will be able to:

      Set-up a collapse zones
      Identify the types of collapses
      Identify collapse indicators
      Name the different causes of collapses
      Organize a collapse response plan
      Identify safety concerns in collapse operations

Program Length and Structure

This program is 3 hours in duration; a three hour PowerPoint presentation.  

Student Handouts

Each firefighter who attends the entire training program will receive a Certificate of Attendance and
a student handbook.
