RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE FIRST ARRIVING COMPANY OFFICERS
Program Overview

This program deals with the responsibilities of the first arriving company officers on the fire ground.

Program Topics

This program covers the following topics:

    •   General firefighting principles
    •   Responsibilities of both engine and ladder company officers
    •   Size up factors
    •   Components of a radio report
    •   Developing an action plan

Behavioral Objective of this Training Program

At the conclusion of this training program, the attendees will be able to:

    •   Deliver an effective radio report based on a given scenario
    •   Demonstrate general firefighter techniques
    •   Name the different size up factors for a given scenario
    •   Name the responsibilities of the company officer

Program Length and Structure

This program is 6 hours in duration; three hour PowerPoint presentation and a three hour
practical.  Practice scenarios are aided by the use of computerized fire ground simulator.  This
training program can be completed in one day or split up into two three hour modules.

Student Handouts

Each firefighter who attends the entire training program will receive and certificate of attendance
and a student handbook.
