FORCIBLE ENTRY PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES
Program Overview

This program is designed to provide the attendees with an understanding of conventional forcible
entry practices and procedures used on the fire ground. This program covers the different types of
locks and security devices that firefighters will confront in the field.

Program Topics

This program covers the following topics:

      Types of locks
      Hazards associated with forcible entry
      Forcing Doors
      Forcing roll down gates
      Forcing window bars and gates
      Safe use of forcible entry tools
      Overall operational safety

Behavioral Objective of this Training Program

At the conclusion of this training program, the attendees will be able to:

      Correctly identify the different types of locks and security devices
      Identify the concerns associated with each type of locking device
      Identify the hazards associated with forcible entry
      Demonstrate overall operational safety when forcing entry
       With practice, correctly and safely force open different locks and security devices

Program Length and Structure

This program is 3 hours in duration; a three hour PowerPoint presentation.  Practical application
training is also available upon special request and at additional cost.


Student Handouts

Each firefighter who attends the entire training program will receive a Certificate of Attendance and
a student handbook.
